Songs for a New World

Songs for a New World is, according to composer Jason Robert Brown, “about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” With a rousing score that blends elements of pop, gospel and jazz, featuring tight harmonies and darling vocals, Songs for a New World transports its audience from the deck of a spanish sailing ship bound for a new land, to the ledge of a New York penthouse. Characters range from a young adult in the Bronx who dreams of becoming a famous basketball player, to a forlorn and neglected Mrs. Claus lamenting as Christmas approaches. A small but powerful diverse cast and a supercharged, well crafted score appeal to old and new generations alike as each character -- in their own way -- takes hold of that one moment and enters a new world.
A Taste of Ireland

Hot off its Off-Broadway premiere, ‘A Taste of Ireland―The Irish Music & Dance Sensation’ hits stages across the USA this fall, performing the show that has entertained thousands around the globe. Laugh, cry and jig into the night with a production that is Celtic, for this generation. ‘Witness the birth of a nation told through rhythm and beat, with the cry of the Vikings as they were brought to defeat, the rise and fall of the rebellion the show tells the tale, trapped were the Irish, watch them dance from the jail. For the nation fought free from Dundalk to Tralee, they sing and they dance through the night full of glee. For Ireland, there was, not a nation quite like her, hold on to your seat, feel Ireland’s passion and fire.’

The Winter Wonderland concert is a holiday musical concert brought to you by the Batavia High School Music Department performed in the Batavia Fine Arts Centre. This concert features our finest musical ensembles in band, choir, and orchestra, as well as our small music ensembles from the music department. Each student in the high school music department will perform in each concert! Once we're all done with those groups - we will perform with all the musicians together in a holiday extravaganza!
